Though forced to leave the party, Romeo lingers near the Capulet's house and when Juliet appears on the balcony, the two profess their love for each other. With the help of Juliet's Nurse and Friar Laurence, the two are secretly married the next day. Romeo soon finds himself in the middle of a fight between Mercutio and Tybalt, Juliet's cousin. Mercutio is killed and, in anger, Romeo pursues and kills Tybalt for which he is banished to Mantua. Juliet's parents arrange for her to marry Paris, a noble kinsman, and Juliet turns to Friar Laurence in aid. They devise a plan and send word to Romeo, but fate intervenes and has its own plan for the lovers.
