The weather plays an active role in our outdoor flagship theater on the Hill, and when the circumstances are right, Nature’s specials effects can be downright spectacular. Coming to APT is an adventure, and since much of that adventure occurs outside, it’s always best to play prepared.
We recommend you check the weather forecast a day or two before your performance to be prepared for what may come. Remember, if the weather forecast is questionable, you have the option to exchange your tickets until the day before the performance, no later than 4:00 pm. Simply call the Box Office at 608-588-2361.
We rarely cancel a performance in advance due to inclement weather.
Cancellation decisions are made in consultation with weather professionals based on the specific forecast for APT at the time of the performance.
In case of inclement weather, we will make every effort to perform, including playing in light rain. Also, we may delay the performance to allow weather to pass. A decision to play or cancel will be made within approximately 45 minutes of the time the performance was held.
If a performance is cancelled before the first intermission, refunds or tickets to another 2025 performance will be offered. If a performance is cancelled after the first intermission begins, refunds are not available but tickets to another 2025 performance will be offered. Tickets are subject to availability. No immediate on-site refunds are available.
Handling fees, picnic dinners, and food events are nonrefundable.
During periods of questionable air quality indexes, we monitor air quality in our area, and receive guidance from advisors. On days when air quality is questionable, ticket holders will hear from us at least 2 hours before the scheduled performance time for shows in the Hill Theatre. Performances in the Touchstone will not be cancelled for air quality. Contact the Box Office with questions at 608-588-2361, or email [email protected].
All ticket holders for a cancelled performance are eligible for exchanges or refunds, based on when the performance is cancelled. You do not have to be in attendance to qualify; however if you decide not to attend a performance and the show goes on as scheduled you will not be eligible for refunds or exchanges.
Booking rainout exchanges. To rebook tickets from a cancelled performance, please call the Box Office when you have a new date selected, and have your order number or tickets from the rained-out show available. Rebookings for rained out performances are complimentary, and may be for any performance, at any seating level, during the 2025 season, subject to availability. Please note, rainout tickets cannot be rebooked online.
Requesting a rainout refund. Please contact the box office by phone to request a rain refund. Requested refunds are issued to the original purchaser by the original method of payment. Handling charges, picnic dinners, and food events are nonrefundable.
For questions and information or to make new arrangements for a rained out performance please contact the APT Box Office at [email protected].
