Fully restored, the Brisbane House is now open for overnight guests! Eight short miles east of APT, the house sleeps a party of six, and the adjacent former summer kitchen sleeps an additional four, with two full bathrooms. Fairtrade coffee, teas, and kringle for breakfast.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it’s notably tall and skinny and carved out of the stone from the nearby bluff. William Henry Brisbane, an ardent abolitionist from South Carolina, built it in 1868. We’re fostering his legacy by opening it up to guest stays and by showcasing contemporary art created exclusively by internationally-known artists of color.
The House on the Rock Resort has 80 two-room suites, dining, 27 holes of golf, 2 indoor swimming pools, 1 outdoor swimming pool, a fitness room and a spa.
The two-room suites have attached private patios or balconies and they all have views of the surrounding countryside and overlook the golf course.
The original 18-hole Springs Course, designed by legendary course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., winds along the valley.
The North Nine which is equally challenging and visually breath-taking. Designed by Roger Packard and Andy North, the course offers dramatic changes in elevation, well-placed traps and subtly sloped greens.
Bed and Breakfast and Beer Garden/Speakeasy open to the public Fridays and Saturdays. Imagine walking through the garden down by the stream, going for a kayak or bike ride, sitting in the beer garden enjoying music and playing yard games. Find your way down to the spa for a massage or time in the sauna. In the evening step back in time with music and a drink from the speakeasy or beer garden. Back in your room enjoy your very own whirlpool tub and plush linens. Wake up to a gourmet breakfast.
