Every knock at the door comes with a side of risk. But when a predator paces within the walls of your own home, an unexpected stranger may carry salvation. As three women desperately examine their options under the direst of deadlines, they realize they no longer have to fight alone. A rich fable of liberation rife with drama and ritual, featuring poetry as lush and velvety as a moonstruck night. The next step onto Marisela Treviño Orta’s path of Grimm Latinx Fairy Tales (extra emphasis on the grim), continue the journey that began with APT’s glorious production of The River Bride in 2022. Running June 25 - September 18.

Summary
Wolf at the Door leans into the darkness that can live inside marriage vows, and the strength, willpower and support needed to break free from it. A mysterious woman arrives at the steps of Isadora and Séptimo’s abusive and unhappy home. A pregnant woman, who Séptimo sees as the answer to his quest for an heir – whether she’s interested or not. A second play in Orta’s ongoing cycle of Latinx fairy tales, along with The River Bride, which APT staged in 2022.
Wolf at the Door is presented by arrangement with Concord theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
Dark fable 'Wolf at the Door' gathers strength at APT
By Lindsay Christians, The Cap Times | July 1, 2024
"Director Melisa Pereyra, an APT core acting company member who starred in “The River Bride,” revels in the eerie, fantastical storytelling of 'Wolf at the Door.'"
Knock, knock
By Dan Koehn, Isthmus | July 3, 2024
"A narrative so poetic and mystical could prove challenging. Pereyra's direction skillfully balances moments of intense drama with lyrical beauty. Her storytelling and scene-by-scene picture-painting are strengthened by the contributions of the production’s designers."
