For APT's technical staff, the show goes on behind the scenes. Assistant Technical Director Doug Dion shared what they're working on in the scene shop while social distancing.

APT: In a nutshell, what does the Assistant Technical Director do?

Doug: My job is a little different at different times during the year. At this time, I work with the Technical Director and help make suggestions on how to build and produce the season. We look at the designs for each production as it comes in and figure out how to make them a reality.

APT: What's the best part of what you do?

Doug: My favorite part of my job is dealing with all the unique challenges. Theater construction requires a lot of strange construction solutions that deal with how to do one or two things really cleanly, and how to hide other elements that aren't as important.

APT: What are you most looking forward to when things go back to normal(ish)?

Doug: I'm looking forward to spending another season building and making great stories outside in our fantastic facilities with great people. Scenic construction is a team sport, and we always build with a great team here.
