Tell us a bit about the history of the Resort.

The House on the Rock Resort has 80 two-room suites, dining, 27 holes of golf, 2 indoor swimming pools, 1 outdoor swimming pool, a fitness room and a spa.

It was designed by Charles Montooth, a senior fellowship member at Taliesin and one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s students. It opened in May of 1993 and was purchased by Vivid, Inc. on June 10, 1999 and renamed The House on the Rock Resort.

The 80 two-room suites have attached private patios or balconies and they all have views of the surrounding countryside and overlook the golf course.

The original 18-hole Springs Course, designed by legendary course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., winds along the valley floor and have been open since 1971. The course flows through a spring fed valley, prompting the name The Springs Course. 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of this course. Rated 4 ½ stars by Golf Digest, it is a classic Jones course, featuring narrow landing areas, sand traps and water hazards that will challenge golfers of every skill level. Nearly every hole has water coming into play giving the course its name and reputation. The fourth hole is a traditional Robert Trent Jones, Sr. par 5. Not real long, big hitters may be able to reach it in two. Miss the green, however, and the narrow landing area is full of traps in front with water lurking behind the green. The green is very narrow and tough to hold with long irons. The par 4 ninth and eighteenth holes wind back to a monstrous double green guarded by water to one side and traps to the other. The par 4 eighteenth hole is recognized as one of the top finishing holes in the state.

The North Nine which opened in 1994 is also rate 4 ½ stars by Golf Digest and is equally challenging and visually breath-taking. Designed by Roger Packard and two-time U.S. Open Champion, Andy North, the course offers dramatic changes in elevation, well-placed traps and subtly sloped greens. Andy North said, “Our philosophy is that the landscape should give the course its character, not the other way around. The course has some outstanding scenery and lots of great vistas.”

What do you have to offer visitors (apart from world-class golf?)

The House on the Rock Resort Spa offers a variety of therapies and treatments including facials, body treatments, massages therapy and salon services.

The Turn Pub and Grill, adjacent to the Golf Shop, offers grilled and fried food, cold sandwiches and various snack items as well as a full line of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
