Actor Carrie Coon's ties to Wisconsin run deep

It’s been about a decade since Carrie Coon strode the boards in Madison and Spring Green in plays at American Players Theatre and the now-defunct Madison Rep. But It sure didn’t seem that way on Friday, afternoon, as Coon, an actor who now has Emmy and Tony nominations on her resume, made a special appearance in APT’s Touchstone Theatre as a featured guest of the American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA) Conference.

Coon, who’s originally from Ohio, spent four summers at APT in the mid-2000s, starting in the company’s apprenticeship program. As she fielded questions from moderator/Capital Times arts reporter Lindsay Christians, it quickly became clear that her Wisconsin roots are still as strong as ever — and that APT’s had a big hand in her successful career.
