Jacqueline Springfield, voice and text coach at American Players Theatre (APT), joins The Friday 8 O’Clock Buzz to talk about her work on the upcoming world premiere of The Death of Chuck Brown. Set in a Washington, D.C. barbershop in 2012, the play explores gentrification, race, and community.

Springfield shares how she collaborates with actors like David Alan Anderson and Josh Krause to bring authentic vocal performances to life. Unlike Shakespeare, the D.C. dialect used in Chuck Brown requires its own careful study.

She also discusses the unique atmosphere at APT in May, when rehearsals are buzzing and anticipation builds toward the opening night.
