The Spring Green General Store has been a staple of the Driftless region for 48 years. Learn more about this special store and café, and don't forget about their annual Beatlefest event, happening this Monday, September 2!
Our Area Guide Spotlight series continues as we enter into the autumn months, showcasing all the Driftless region has to offer yet this season as well as year-round.
This week's stop needs no introduction. Established in 1976, Spring Green General Store has been a staple of the Spring Green community for 48 years, providing excellent service, delicious meals and a friendly place to connect with others while shopping or attending a live concert.
It's a half café and half modern general store, all in a colorful converted 1910 cheese warehouse. Come for the food - and stay for the shopping! Lunch is served Tuesday- Sunday, and a full breakfast menu is available on the weekends until noon. In 2022, we built a ramp, so we are now accessible to everyone. We have outdoor dining available as well. Celebrate your birthday with us, and get a free entrée!
We pride ourselves in always having merchandise in our store that is new and interesting. If you can't join us in the store, you can always shop with us when you get home by visiting our website to view our online store.
We are also the home of BobFest (Memorial Day Weekend) - and BeatleFest (Labor Day Monday).
The building itself was built right next to the railroad tracks in 1910 as a local farmer’s cheese warehouse and remained operating as one until 1975.
Spring Green General Store has been independently owned and operated since 1976, with current owner Karin Dittmar Miller at the helm for the last 30 years. Karin channels her creativity by combining her love of music, art, food and community. She brings it all together into one colorful ensemble that is the Spring Green General Store. Karin has a clear vision and a true passion. She truly embraces her role as an independent retailer, providing a strong sense of community through the store, online, and through social media.
Come sit on our front porch, meet for lunch, have fun shopping or get water for your dog. While you wander, be sure to check out our big back deck. Our bathrooms are open to everyone, whether you are a customer, or just passing through town. We pride ourselves on treating everyone with kindness, and we hope you enjoy your time with us.

For over 30 years we have implemented business practices that consider reusing, reducing, and recycling first. We always support local. We always support music and the arts in our community, and we support local charities.
We can say with certainty that you will see us as members of the audience at APT, that we probably fed you a lunch or two, and that we recognize some of the women's outfits and earrings that came from our store! Some of your patrons have become old friends of ours, too. We love APT, the people, the plays, and recognize what a wonderful influence it has had on our community here in Spring Green!
