Our Area Guide Spotlight series is back for 2024, and we couldn't be more excited to share these local stops and shops as you begin to plan your APT adventures for this summer.
Local history comes alive in this Mazomanie destination! The Iron Amethyst Inn is a boutique hotel located in downtown Mazomanie with a lot to offer, including an attached 1920s inspired bar, The 2One Speakeasy, where libations are poured and the jazz age roars on. Steps away, their impressive Bear Garden takes the fun outside, with an assortment of activities to do for those grabbing a drink or guests spending the night. At a quick twenty-minute drive from APT, this spot might be the perfect garnish for your perfect summer night!
Welcome to the 2One Speakeasy where the roaring 20’s is alive. Step back in time and enjoy 20’s music, Prohibition style drinks, and a lounge designed with the ambiance of a true speakeasy club. Our Speakeasy features local beer, seltzer, cider, wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. We offer a variety of local appetizers and boards. Staying local is very important to us. Many nights we will have live music & food trucks. Open Fridays & Saturdays 5-10 PM.
Iron Amethyst Inn offers 5 refined room types, each remarkable in their own way. Every room is appointed with an eye for detail. Its luxury meets restful and spa like, with a side of extraordinary.
The year was 1865 when an enterprising barrel cooper from Milwaukee named William Thompson journeyed to Mazomanie and began building this stately home. Financed by his success with the Mazomanie Flour Mill, Thompson constructed this impressive Italianate home.
In 1899 Dr. John Kester bought the house and opened his practice with Dr. Pinckerton. He also raised race horses in the carriage house in back. He died in 1923, leaving his wife Lenora to live in the house a total of 55 years. She lived in the house from 1899 until age 90 in 1954. She was a teacher at Richland County before she married Dr. Kester in 1888.
The Friskes began a full-scale restoration in 1996. Three years later the doors were open.
Fast forward to 2019 when Justin and Jennifer Martinez purchased The Mansion. The boutique Hotel will not only accommodate guests but will host weddings, events and parties.
Iron makes amethyst purple. Our business is beautiful and the ambiance is like an amethyst. The iron comes from the hard work and determination we put into our business.
The ambiance is like stepping back in time. We have many things to do at our Inn including…
Playing yard games, kayaking, taking a bike ride, hiking and splashing and fishing in the creek. Guests will also enjoy listening live to live music or grabbing a cocktail when the Speakeasy or Beer Garden is open. Our inn also includes a Game Room, a Library, and spa services inhouse. Come and relax in a rocker and enjoy company or quiet time on our wrap around porch.
Our Mixologists are always working to create the best craft cocktails. Not sure what to have? Our Mixologists will find a drink just for you! If cocktails aren’t your thing we have an excellent selection of wines, beers, seltzers, cider, and a large array of Mocktails (non-alcoholic drinks).
Our inn is perfect for hosting events or getting married as well. Or, guests can always retreat to their rooms and enjoy a private Whirl Pool bath and pillow top beds.
Our Beer Garden is something special. We have over 100 seats on the Porch, in the Garden, in Hammock Haven and the Stable Room/Patio. We have yard games such as bags, giant Jenga, giant dice, giant dominoes, giant connect 4 and giant chess. Come sit by the fountain, relax by a fire table or hang in the hammock garden. Travel back in time to the Apothecary style bar (a tribute to Dr. Kester) where elixirs/drinks are uniquely crafted. You will feel like you stepped back in time to a secret speakeasy with Prohibition style drinks and the ambiance of the 1920’s.
Mazomanie is a thriving community nestled in the Gateway to the Driftless, offering endless recreational opportunities as well as events and entertainment throughout the year. We are located 20 min from Spring Green, 30 minutes from Madison, WI.
