The holidays are upon us, and we know how hard it can be to shop for theater fans in your life. But, with a little help from our APT Holiday Gift Guide, your loved ones will be dreaming of the sweet days of summer.
For the person who buys everything themselves:
- An APT Gift Certificate. Gift Certificates are the way to go for people with nothing on their Holiday Wish List! APT Gift certificates can be purchased online and delivered immediately to you or your Secret Santa. Learn more here.
- A Beyond the Plays Event IOU. For lifelong learners, our Beyond the Play events are the perfect gift. Learn more about the behind-the-scenes happenings during an Inside Out Tour or Backstage Series event. Or take a deep dive into this season’s plays during our Play Talks. Please note: these tickets will go on sale to returning patrons in March (hence the IOU).
For the Gourmand in your life:
- Gummy Bears. Gummy Bears are the ultimate APT-themed gift. This year, we sold nearly 310,000 individual gummy bears! Bring that joy and excitement to your gift-giving this season, then “Exit, pursued by a [gummy] bear" (The Winter’s Tale, Act 3, Scene 3).
- Hot Chocolate. You can add an APT Twist for your giftee (if they’re over 21) in the form of Brandy, Baileys or Peppermint Schnapps.
- Picnic Basket. Nothing says APT quite like a picnic basket (and maybe a few travel wine glasses).
For those who love Words, Words, Words
- Poetry. There are a lot of different ways you can go with poetry. Maybe it’s writing a piece of your own (maybe with some wine or chocolate on the side) or gifting a book of poems.
- The Complete Works of Shakespeare. Everyone should have at least one Complete Works of Shakespeare…If not, two. We’re kidding, but for those who love APT, The Complete Works is always a safe bet. There are so many versions that “The world is [thine] oyster” (The Merry Wives of Windsor, Act 2, Scene 2). Check out your local bookstore - or ours by visiting Arcadia Books!
For the people who love homemade gifts:
- Ticket Display. Do you keep all of your tickets? Get a little crafty by finding a small shadow box, mounting a ticket in said box, and delivering with a special handwritten note. Or if you have a lot of tickets saved, fill that box to the brim! (This also works with Playbills & other theater-related items).
- Re-Invented Tee. If you’re like us, you might have a few APT Tees that have seen better days. You don’t want to give them up, but you really need the drawer space. Break out your sewing machine or some needle and thread and sew a little throw pillow. If you have a lot of tees, maybe a tee-shirt quilt.
- APT Embroidery. Maybe you don’t have a sewing machine but still would like to add a little extra dazzle to your past APT merch. Pick up an embroidery hoop, some embroidery thread and beads from your local craft store.
For the people who are glued to their weather app before coming to APT:
- Rain Jacket or Poncho. While we’re always hoping for sunny skies during the day and cloudless skies at night, the occasional “cataracts and hurricanoes, spout” (King Lear, Act III Scene II). Although the weather in Spring Green isn’t as dramatic as Lear makes it out to be, a high-quality rain jacket or poncho is a great gift for those who frequent the Hill Theatre.
- Sun Hats. If you love matinees or stopping by Peck’s Landing before a performance, we suggest a wide-brimmed hat. Be it cotton, straw or canvas, a hat is the perfect fit for the matinee mate in your life.
- Reusable water bottle. Preferably, one that you can put APT & Shakespeare stickers on.
- Bug Spray. No explanation is needed.
