A Memory of APT

A sweet recollection from Connie, a long-time friend, about how she and her family came to love APT. In 1983 my two teenage sons and I climbed the hill for the first time. I had coerced them to go in exchange for a trip to the Dells. Half-way up the hill Damon age 14 said "is it over yet?" I had carefully chosen "The Taming of the Shrew" with Annie Ochiogrosso and Randall Duk Kim. We laughed so hard that the boys insisted we come back the next year. I have attended at least one weekend/year nearly every summer since. Generally my immediate has joined me - the two sons, my two daughters, their husbands and later their children. Five years ago the boys in the front row and Reagan in the second row went to their first ever play. The twins were six and Reagan was seven. They saw "A Midsummer's Night's Dream." They were enchanted and have seen many productions since - many Shakespeare comedies, Richard III, and most recently Hamlet. About ten years ago we expanded the weekend get-together to include my sisters with their husbands, children, and grandchildren; my daughter's husband's mother and sister, the sister's son and step-daughter; the step-daughter's husband and daughters. We gather from all over the country. The first picture was taken by a paid photographer on the occasion of the 50th wedding anniversary of my sister Kathy and her husband Bill. The kids put on a skit by reading the speeches from "Hamlet". That night they all went up the hill to see APT's production. (In my opinion, the best ever.)
