2025 Midsummer Musician Bios

Meet the 2025 Midsummer Musicians!

Daniel Kenneth Libby: Daniel Kenneth Libby, a Colorado native with deep midwestern roots, is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and traditional folk musician. Daniel was a founding member of the acclaimed folk duo, The Floorbirds and has appeared at the 2007 & 2008 Tanned Tin Festival in Spain, the 2008 SXSW festival in Austin, TX, and at the 2008 & 2009 Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, in TN/VA.

Raised in a blue-collar, working-class family in central Minnesota, he was later involved in the vibrant Dinkytown, West Bank, and Northeast folk music scenes. Daniel currently resides in Mineral Point Wisconsin and is performing solo, as well as with The Firesides, and the High Street Revelers.

Daniel’s music is featured in the films, Cowboys: A Documentary Portrait, and A Short Distance, a film about the Tanned Tin Music Festival. Daniel’s music was also featured in an award-winning series of commercials for Cavender's.

Dylan Harris: Dylan Harris is a local music lover, organizer, and performer. He has multiple albums out as ‘Dylan Harris & Good Company’. On the 4th Monday of every month you can find him here in Spring Green hosting open mic at the Slowpoke Lounge & Cabaret, a tradition since 2022.

Dylan grew up enjoying life along the Fox River in Elgin, IL. He used to spend a lot of time in the Cook County forest preserves with his family and friends. He took up guitar when he was 11 and was inspired by wanting to be in a band with his friends. He studied music at the University of Chicago and graduated in 2014.

In 2019 he moved to the Driftless after taking a job as an apple picker at Sunrise Orchards in Gays Mills. He’s found a home here and lives in La Farge in a converted schoolhouse. It doesn’t seem haunted.

KG & The Ranger: Celebrating 35 years performing Classic Cowboy Music together, KG & The Ranger continue their mission to keep vintage cowboy songs alive!

KG & The Ranger will transport you out west and back in time to the days of cowboy movie heroes like Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and The Sons of the Pioneers. They are known for creative harmony arrangements plus their award-winning harmony yodeling. From familiar classic cowboy songs to less well-known "rare gems", they give them all their own fresh unique sound. This husband and wife duo have performed over 3000 shows together since their start in 1989.

Mark Browning Milner: Mark Browning Milner is a singer-guitarist-bon vivant who takes classy and mellow songs from the 20s through the 70s and makes them his own.

He was born and raised in Marion, Ohio (a nice place to be from) which was also home to Warren G. Harding, Rod Serling, John Dean, and Gerry Mulligan, all of whom considered influences.

His repertoire runs the gamet from Louis Armstrong to The Weavers, and includes The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, The Grateful Dead, Johnny Cash, Steely Dan, Bobby Dylan, Bobby Darin, Bobby Troup, Bobby Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, and Britney Spears. (And Groucho Marx - no kidding!).

He has entertained audiences from the gulf shores of Alabama to the deserts
of Arizona and New Mexico, from the extreme southwest of Texas to the upper midwest of Minnesota and Wisconsin, and all points between and betwixt.

When MBM hits the hill, anything can happen.
Come see for yourself.

McCarty/Brown Duo: Doug and Maureen were musicians at American Players Theatre in the early days, when live musicians performed at each show. They were often behind the scenes, and occasionally onstage as minstrels or Russian folk musicians (for Chekhov plays). Since then they have often played in the picnic area before shows, continuing to enjoy the connection with APT. Both are involved in a variety of musical ventures in the Madison area.

Nath Dresser: Nath Dresser has been writing songs and performing since back when he lived in the Carolinas. For the past 29 years he’s been living in Wisconsin, playing in venues ranging from cafes and house concerts to the Sh*tty Barn here in Spring Green. Nath’s original works are mostly finger-picked story-songs in the folk or Americana vein; he also covers tunes by songwriters such as Richard Thompson and Warren Zevon. These days he lives in Spring Green with his wife, son, and three cats. You can learn more about his work as both a singer-songwriter and photographer at www.nathdresser.com.

Paul and Doug: Paul and Doug have been playing music together for over thirty years. We specialize in traditional bluegrass and our major influences include Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, and J.D. Crowe. Good old down home, front porch, family-friendly pickin' and singin'!

Scott Stieber and Don Myers: Lifelong musical performer, both live and studio. Two-time inductee to the Iowa Rock 'N' Roll Music Association (IRRMA) Hall of Fame.

Still Strummin': John and Ned formed still Strummin with Dave Hopper over 10 years ago. Along the way we added Mark Hubanks as a lead guitar player. We try to play songs that have vocal harmony ala Crosby Stills and Nash. Unfortunately Dave passed away a little over a year ago. We just recently added Debbie to the group. She pays violin and mandolin and also sings high harmony. She brings a new complement to the band and we’re really glad to have her.

The Firesides: The Firesides have spent the better part of the last 10 years playing barn dances throughout the beautiful Driftless Area of rural Southwestern Wisconsin!

The Firesides, perform a variety of Appalachian & Midwestern instrumentals, cowboy songs, blues, traditional song-gems, and their own originals.

Meghan and Daniel, who play fiddle and guitar, moved to Southwestern Wisconsin from the Twin Cities, where they played separately in the bands, The Floorbirds and The Ditchlilies. Meghan is currently the fiddle player in the group Point Five.

With these past bands, they have played on numerous festival stages across the US and Europe, including The Tanned Tin Music Festival in Spain, The Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion in Bristol, TN - SXSW in Austin, Texas – and The Sugar Maple Festival in Madison, WI.

In addition to performances, The Firesides can also offer group style lessons in Appalachian clogging for all ages.
