On your next trip to APT, consider visiting, staying, shopping and eating local by consulting APT’s helpful Area Guide. APT’s Area Guide Spotlight series highlights all the things that make the Driftless area so incredible, including some of our favorite finds that should definitely be included on your summer itinerary.

Taliesin Preservation needs no introduction for those with a passion for legendary Wisconsinites and towering figures of global architecture. Located just down the road from APT, a visit to Spring Green isn’t complete until you’ve had an opportunity to learn more about the life and lasting legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright in his own home and studio. A celebrated national and international landmark with an emphasis on education, Taliesin Preservation was recently featured on Bravo’s Top Chef, introducing a new audience to the impact of Frank Lloyd Wright and the River Valley in general.

Now, Taliesin Preservation is inviting everyone to discover their stunning grounds during their annual A Day at Taliesin event on Sunday, June 8, in honor of Frank Lloyd Wright's 158th birthday. Open to all ages, this extensive and interactive experience has limited capacity, so consider signing up early to make sure and save your spot.

Communications Manager Susan Kennedy shared more about Taliesin’s historic and contemporary influence in this Area Guide Spotlight.

About Taliesin Preservation

Taliesin Preservation invites you to discover the Organic Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s architect who designed over 1,100 buildings, of which 532 were realized - more than any other American architect to this day!

At Taliesin, you’re not just visiting a place— you’re entering Wright's world where he lived, worked, played, innovated, and mentored generations of future architects. It is the only public UNESCO World Heritage Site in Wisconsin.

We offer tours, events, weekend workshops, recently renovated Hillside Theater, Riverview Terrace Cafe, and The Wright Gift Shop.

A Glimpse into Genius

Frank Lloyd Wright began building Taliesin in 1911 and lived here for nearly 50 years until his death in 1959. Taliesin Preservation was established in 1993 to preserve these buildings and Wright's legacy at his home, studio, and 800-acre estate. Taliesin is a National Historic Landmark and the only public UNESCO World Heritage Site in Wisconsin.

Frank Lloyd Wright's family is from this beautiful region of Wisconsin, and Wright built his home with the natural world in mind.

He invented Organic Architecture here and experimented with new building techniques along with his apprentices. The property is 800-acres and includes Hillside Drafting Studio and Hillside Theater. We offer immersive Weekend Workshops where you can stay on the estate for a weekend and learn new skills.

The Riverview Terrace Cafe, now open for the season.

Constructing Community Impact

Taliesin Preservation is a vital part of the community of Spring Green, bringing in nearly $3 million into the local economy each year and providing over 60 jobs to local people in positions that are both seasonal and year-round. We provide access to Taliesin via tours and programs and also offer Riverview Terrace Cafe and The Wright Gift Shop.

Designing the Future

The newly renovated Hillside Theater offers programs, events, film screenings, and more.

Our annual event, A Day at Taliesin, is on June 8th, commemorating Frank Lloyd Wright's 158th birthday.

We offer immersive Weekend Workshops where guests can relax, disconnect, and learn new skills - all while staying on Frank Lloyd Wright's stunning 800-acre estate.

We have several tour options to choose from and just debuted our new Self-Guided Tour, which allows visitors to wander Taliesin with an iPad containing content of Wright himself. Take a guided tour or self-guided and immerse yourself in the history, courtyards, and spaces where Frank Lloyd Wright shaped architectural history.
