About Riverview Terrace Café

Riverview Terrace Café is a seasonal restaurant at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center, where all tours of Taliesin - Frank Lloyd Wright's home and estate in Spring Green - depart from. Located just down the road from APT, our restaurant offers a variety of fresh salads, sandwiches, and more using local producers and the Kitchen Garden at Taliesin. Riverview Terrace Café is a nonprofit restaurant, which means all proceeds support the mission of Taliesin Preservation to conduct tours, public programs, and preservation of the Taliesin property.

A History of the Riverview Terrace

Frank Lloyd Wright designed Riverview Terrace in 1953. At that time, he was at the height of his career and the building progressed slowly, as he focused on large-scale projects that demanded his attention away from Taliesin. In 1959, at the age of 92, Wright passed away, and construction halted. The building was completed and opened in 1967 as the Spring Green Restaurant, which operated independently for 25 years, from 1967 to 1992, until Taliesin Preservation acquired it in 1993.
In 2024, the Riverview Terrace was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the building is the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center and houses Riverview Terrace Café. Frank Lloyd Wright wanted Riverview Terrace to serve as a gateway to Taliesin, and by creating a restaurant at this location, he was also making a gift to his beloved Wyoming Valley and Spring Green neighbors.

A Gateway to Taliesin and Beyond

The Riverview Terrace Café is just down the road from APT and offers stunning views of the Wisconsin River surrounded by Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic architecture. In addition to stopping by the Café this summer, consider attending one of the several events happening on the estate and at Hillside Theater.
