Our Area Guide Spotlight series is back for 2024, and we couldn't be more excited to share these local stops and shops as you begin to plan your APT adventures for this summer.
It’s time to get fired up! Today, we’re exploring the always-wonderful Brewery Pottery in Mineral Point. This family-run studio and gallery is bustling with activity year-round and is an active part of Mineral Point’s impressive art scene. Located in a historic beer factory, Brewery Pottery’s charming artist environment is a must-visit stop for those who love all things local and all things art. Discover more below!
Brewery Pottery, a one-of-a-kind, gallery, is housed within a rambling former 1850s brewery nestled on the edge of charming Mineral Point - just a short (and beautiful) drive from Spring Green. Brewery Pottery features the work of over 250 distinctive artists as well as a full line of pottery made in house. Items from local and regional craftspeople as well as global fair-trade items are available daily. Visitors to the gallery are able (and encouraged!) to step inside and explore the working pottery studio located within the gallery.
Brewery Pottery is just as it sounds – a working pottery studio and gallery located within a former 1850s brewery. We live above, work within, and breathe all things Brewery Pottery. We’re happy to talk pottery, history, or both and our doors are always open seven days a week.
Brewery Pottery (the brick and mortar gallery) was born in 1994, but the seeds were planted a few decades earlier in the mid-1970s when owners and artists, Diana and Tom Johnston, fell in love with pottery and became full time potters. They created (and continue to create!) wheel thrown and slab built ceramic pieces in both stoneware and porcelain. Along the way, their daughter Claire joined the pottery business and today the three of them enjoy working and collaborating daily in the studio and gallery. In addition to all the pottery made in house, Brewery Pottery is also a gallery and is proud to represent the works of over 250 distinctive artists and over 50 jewelers.
Mineral Point focuses heavily on two pathways - its unique history and nurturing its robust creative energy. Brewery Pottery is no different in its focus. Located within a former brewery, history is found around every corner. Similarly, creative expression is found quite literally everywhere you look. We love Mineral Point, the friendly and openminded community, and enjoy opening our doors year-round to welcome friends and visitors to Brewery Pottery.
Visitors of Brewery Pottery love the unique blend of art and history found walking through doors of the rambling old building filled with treasures just waiting to be discovered. You'll find a large selection of excellently crafted pieces in a friendly and welcoming environment. Pieces are carefully selected for the kitchen, home, and garden – and are available in wide variety of price points to suit any budget.
Everything from pottery, paintings, and sculptures to jewelry and wearables, toys and games, wood, glass, and more can be found throughout the gallery.
Like American Players Theatre, Brewery Pottery offers an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind experience that visitors will enjoy and remember fondly for years to come. At Brewery Pottery, in addition to finding a unique experience, visitors will also find timeless heirlooms lovingly created to enhance their hearts and homes.
Brewery Pottery is open daily 10am-5pm (all year round!) and shopping is available online at brewerypottery.com. Brewery Pottery is also fairly active on our social media channels and can be found @brewerypottery on Facebook and Instagram. Please give a follow and a shout, we love connecting with new friends!
In a world where disposables are the norm and cheap mass production is around most corners – Dare to be different.
Life is short. Buy the art. Eat the cake. Love your neighbors.
