Sonya Madrigal (She/Her/Ella)

Sonya is thrilled to be joining the magical woods of APT for the first time! A proud first-generation Mexican American actor, director, choreographer, and teaching artist,born and based in Chicago. She holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Illinois at Chicago.Recent acting credits include Go, Dog. Go! / Ve, Perro, Vé (Chicago Children’s Theatre), BERNARDA! (Teatro Vista/Steppenwolf), Villette (Lookingglass Theatre), Pequeños Territorios (Goodman Theatre), Day of Absence (Congo Square), Hope Part II: A Mexican Trilogy (Teatro Vista), Oedipus Rex and The Adventures of Augie March (Court Theatre), and Electricidad (UIC). Regional credits include Henry V (Riverside Theatre), Letters from Cuba, and Our Lady of 121st Street.Her recent choreography work includes Go, Dog. Go! / Ve, Perro, Vé (Chicago Children’s Theatre), Zulema and American Mariachi (Goodman Theatre), and Art with an Accent (Teatro Vista). Recent directing credits include Fefu and Her Friends (Snails on a Bike) and the premiere of Poor Queenie (Subtext Studio/Theater Wit).Sonya is a proud member of the Artistic Collective at Teatro Vista and is represented by Stewart Talent.
