Play it safe: Your guide to ordering APT tickets online

We like to think APT is a pretty special place. And we recently discovered that ticket brokers feel the same. If you’re not familiar with that term, ticket brokers are 3rd party ticket resellers who aren’t affiliated with APT. These sites buy tickets from individuals, or even directly from APT’s website, and resells those tickets at a substantially higher price.

While some sites are legitimate, others are not so reputable, and there are big downsides to purchasing from them, such as expense and complications with exchanges and communication. The bottom line is that APT’s website – americanplayers.org - is the only safe place to purchase your tickets online. The good news is that there are some easy ways to avoid those other sites.



Make sure you can select your own seat. Beware of zone seating where you can only choose a section. APT has a seating chart where you choose your specific seat.



Look at the prices and fees. APT’s handling fee is $10 per order. If there’s a per-ticket fee or if taxes have been added, you’re likely on a 3rd party seller’s site.


Double check the address bar at the top of your browser and make sure it starts with americanplayers.org (such as americanplayers.org/tickets). This is the only official web address to buy APT tickets.


    Does it say “Sponsored”? If you Googled American Players Theatre Tickets, avoid the Sponsored ads and look for the link with the official APT logo.



    Bookmark americanplayers.org on your web browsers so you know you’re headed to the right place to buy your tickets.

    For those of you who’ve purchased from ticket brokers, we share your frustration. There is little APT can do in the way of removing our events, or barring these organizations from reselling our tickets.
