How many buttons does it take to dress the cast of AllWell That Ends Well?

It starts with an idea. The director creates his vision for a play and shares it with his design team. In the case of All's Well That Ends Well, the energy that director John Langs envisioned carrying the actors through their journey plays itself out on a bright red stage courtesy of Scenic Designer Takeshi Kata. Costumes must harness that energy, as well as depict the class differences in Helena and Bertram and their own embattled journeys. Costume Designer Robert Morgan created the aesthetic and then handed his designs over to our experienced drapers, stitchers and first hands in the costume shop. In the context of opening five shows in just over three weeks, Scott Rott, Costume Director, realized that the staff would need additional help with all the buttons and trim on the uniforms used in the production. On Memorial Day weekend, three fabulous APT fans, Heather Ockler, Carol Lancaster and Michelle Livanos volunteered their Saturday to sew nearly 500 buttons, hooks, snaps and labels on the costumes for All's Well That Ends Well. As this show opens this Saturday, we think of all of the hands who've made it possible. Thank you all, and Bravo on a job well done!
