First Look at The Syringa Tree

Our marketing and development intern, Audra Lange, got a chance to see a runthrough of The Syringa Tree yesterday. Here are her thoughts on the experience. Yesterday, a few of the APT staff got to experience the wonder of Colleen Madden in The Syringa Tree. I have to tell you that if you miss this show you will be disappointed. It is quite possibly one of the most wonderful things I've ever seen. It tells the story of a young girl living in South Africa and her struggle with her love for her homeland and her sense of morals. Colleen Madden plays 24 characters within the time span of two hours. I had doubts going into the performance about being able to follow the story and recognize all the characters, but any doubt was erased within the first ten minutes. This play was so powerful; I cried five times and meant it every single time. To be able to witness such pure joy, confusion, anger, and loss of a young girl's innocence was probably the closest I'll ever get to the true meaning of life.
