Discover Taliesin Preservation

Taliesin Preservation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the cultural, built, and natural environments of Taliesin, the home and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright. Located in Spring Green, Wisconsin, we offer a range of tours and programs that connect visitors to the legacy of Wright and the beauty of the Driftless Area.

The inspiration behind the creation of Taliesin Preservation was rooted in a deep sense of stewardship—to preserve not only the physical structures of Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio but also the cultural, natural, and intellectual legacy it represents. Taliesin is more than a historic site; it’s a living laboratory of ideas, experimentation, and design philosophy.

Formally established in 1993, Taliesin Preservation was born from a partnership with the mission to open Wright’s Wisconsin home to the public, while ensuring its long-term care and relevance. Since then, our organization has invested over $11 million in preservation efforts and has significantly advanced public access of the estate.

A New Way to Explore

We’re excited to announce the launch of Taliesin Preservation’s innovative self-guided tours. This new experience allows visitors to explore Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin at their own pace using an iPad filled with exclusive audio and video content. Guests will hear Wright’s own voice, see rare archival footage and original drawings, and gain unique insights into the principles of organic architecture directly from Wright himself.

The tours run daily in the afternoons and typically last 60 to 90 minutes, offering flexibility and a deeply immersive experience. This new format complements our award-winning guided tours and opens up a more personalized way for visitors—both new and returning—to connect with Wright’s legacy.

The new self guided tour tour was designed to be both thoughtful and flexible—it invites visitors to move at their own pace, reflect, and engage with the spaces in a more intimate way. It’s also more accessible in terms of scheduling and cost, making Taliesin’s story available to a broader audience. Overall, it’s not just a tour—it’s an opportunity to slow down, look closely, and experience the house in a more personal way.

Built by the Driftless, for the Driftless

Taliesin is nestled in Wisconsin’s Driftless Area, a region untouched by glaciers and shaped by winding rivers, limestone bluffs, and rolling hills. This unique geography inspired Wright’s approach to organic architecture.

Many are surprised to learn that Taliesin is not just a house—it's a collection of interconnected buildings, agricultural structures, and spread across a vast rural landscape. Even more, it continues to be a place of creativity, with ongoing programs in architecture, design, preservation, and the arts.

We serve as a cultural anchor for the Spring Green area, drawing visitors from around the world while supporting local businesses, artists, and educators. Our programs connect the global significance of Taliesin with local heritage, providing jobs, partnerships, and access to arts, architecture, and the environment.
