Assistant Director, August Wilson’s Fences

Malek Mayo, a Baltimore native, received his degree from Clark Atlanta University. As a black man, he is very aware of the need for EDI in the American Theatre, and he leads with those values with grace. He just finished up his Casting Fellowship at Arena Stage. Prior to that, he served as the in-house assistant director for Kenny Leon’s Theatre Company. His most recent projects include King Hedley II, Holla If You Hear Me and Lady Day at Emerson’s. Malek is excited to be working with Ron OJ Parson and the amazing cast and crew on this production!
