Penny Patterson

Penny Patterson serves as VP of Corporate Affairs and on the Promega Board of Directors. She works with the Corporate Affairs team in corporate communications; community/media/customer relations; strategic information and philanthropic support. The team provides corporate information, facilitates special events, curates corporate story and researches industry insights. The team manages unique corporate programs from onsite immersion for customers to art exhibits for community to hospitality. In essence, Corporate Affairs provides information and resources across the breadth of Promega constituencies - customers, employees, community and shareholders. Penny started with Promega in 2004 as a manager in Marketing Communications. She later developed Corporate Affairs and also served the Marketing Services team.

Penny also serves as Communications Director with the medical research organization Usona Institute. She provides direction and strategic input regarding the organization’s communications and media relations with regulatory agencies, clinicians, donors and the general public.

Prior to Promega, Penny worked in advertising and PR at two Madison firms - The Hiebing Group and Knupp and Watson. She filled roles in PR, account management, and communications planning for national and local accounts developing identity and promotional communications. She started her career as a radio reporter in Madison covering Madison news and creating environmentally focused public programming.

Over the years, she has been a part of award winning work with recognition from the Milwaukee Press Club, Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and American Advertising Federation – Madison. Penny earned Bachelor of Arts degrees from the UW Madison in journalism and philosophy. She served on Boards of Directors and advisory committees for Community Shares of Madison, Madison Rape Crisis Center and Madison Youth Choirs.
