Born and raised in San Francisco, Marilet Martinez is a queer, bilingual, multi hyphenate artist, Leo Sun/ Scorpio rising, bruja homegirl. She prioritizes collaborative intersectionality and community empowerment. As a resilience focused, student-centered teaching artist, she has developed national programming for community wellness through arts intervention for over 15 years. In the Bay Area, she has originated roles in over 10 world premieres with envelope pushing companies such as the Magic Theatre, the San Francisco Mime Troupe, Crowded Fire, Cutting Ball, Impact Theatre and more. Most recently, Marilet appeared in Mother Road as Mo at PCPA Theatre, under the flawless direction of Robert Ramirez. As a comedy nerd and improviser, Marilet has performed with Leela Improv’s faculty team- the Armando Company, the all-female Harold team Sorry Not Sorry and her duo, Pura Pocha. Recently relocated to Chicago, Marilet is ¼ of the award winning Latina collective Ratas De Dos Patas. These hermanas del improv have performed and taught workshops across the U.S. spreading their message of comedy, cultura, y corazón. She is also half of Tus Tias Productions, who's sketch comedy cabaret style show The Invocation of Selena will be featured at this year's Latinx Theatre Commons Comedy Carnaval. She is an ensemble member at ComedySportz Chicago and can be seen weekly performing and hosting for their Twitch channel, CSZN.
