Thanks for keeping APT beautiful!

Thanks for keeping APT beautiful!

Our annual Garlic Mustard Weed Pull was held Saturday and Sunday, May 1st and 2nd. Garlic mustard is an invasive species that quickly takes over the landscape, forcing out other flora because of its early growing season, its height, and its density per square foot.

APT staff and volunteers have been working to remove the garlic mustard from the most public of our property for the past seven years, and we have made great strides.  50 volunteers on Saturday and 15 on Sunday removed garlic mustard from more areas than ever before.  Our picnic areas are now nearly garlic mustard free because of these pulls over the years, so we are able to focus on more acreage, including backstage, around the parking lot, and along our nature trail.  It is clearly making a huge difference, as those volunteers who have worked the pull for multiple years can attest.

I would like to send a big thank you to all the volunteers who came to the pull this year.  You have made a valuable and noticeable improvement to our landscape, and enhanced the beauty of APT for the 100,000+ visitors we will have over the next several months.  Thank you!
