Student Matinee Series

In 2011, APT offers Student Matinee performances of The Taming of the Shrew, Of Mice and Men and The Tempest Up the Hill and The Glass Menagerie, Crime and Punishement and The Cure at Troy: A Version of Sophocles' Philoctetes in the Touchstone Theatre.

In addition to the performance, APT provides a number of resources to enrich and enliven your students’ trip to APT:

To accompany Student Matinee performances, APT offers workshops in individual classrooms led by APT teaching artists. These 45-minute workshops introduce students to the play and use various techniques to make story, language, character and theme vivid and accessible to the students. Teachers are able to select from several workshop formats to optimize their students’ experience. A number of workshops are sponsored through grant funds and available free of charge.

Pricing and Reservations

Student matinee tickets are $12.00 each. We try to make your trip to APT as flexible and hassle-free as possible. When you pick your date, please call the Box Office at 608-588-2361 and give us your best guess as to the number of people attending (including students and chaperones). We will then send you a contract to sign and return in order to hold your spot. Your final numbers and payment are due one week before the date of the show.

Please note that your final number can not drop by more than 20% of your original booking number and that additional tickets are subject to availability. Some dates fill up quickly, with many groups booking in the spring. A number of scholarship tickets are available to allow as many groups as possible to attend APT. Please ask the Box Office about these when you make your reservation. Study Guides

Downloadable Study Guides are available to accompany student matinee performances Up the Hill. Each guide includes activities and resources specific to APT’s production. Most performances are followed by discussions between students and actors. Study Guides will not be provided for student performances in the Touchstone Theatre.
