James is honored to be here for his 17th season. Last summer he directed Heroes by Gerald Sibleyras, tranlsated by Tom Stoppard. Here at APT James has directed 10 plays by Shakespeare, including The Merchant of Venice, Henry IV, Henry V and, most recently, The Tempest. He has also directed three plays by George Bernard Shaw, including Candida and Pygmalion, and plays by Oscar Wild and Somerset Maugham. For 15 years he was Artistic Director of Remy Bumppo Theatre in Chicago where he directed over 30 productions, six of them by Tom Stoppard, including Night and Day, Hapgood, The Real Thing and Arcadia. James is the owner of Arcadia Books, a bookstore and cafe in downtown Spring Green.
