
Fitz Patton
Sound Design & Original Music, Blithe Spirit
Fitz Patton, composes music and designs sound fields for theater. He has designed and scored over 200 productions in 20 cities across the US. In 2010 he was awarded both the Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk awards for his design for When the Rain Stops Falling at Lincoln Centerʼs Mitzi Newhouse Theater. He teaches and designs at Barnard College of Columbia University, where he began work on motion activated public and environmental sound sculpture that explores the boundary between theater and public space. His current work there explores the use of environmental sensors (temperature, light, humidity and motion) to activate sound fields. His recent article, "Rain Delay", published by Live Design, details his process for the creation of the 32 channel environmental installation for When the Rain Stops Falling. He is a graduate of Vassar College, Bard College and Yale University.
